One in five workers gave their boss a negative grade, according to a survey from Glassdoor.com.
The common complaint that workers have of their bosses is that they are “stopping or slowing” a pay raise (40%). Other gripes that respondents have of their managers include reducing or eliminating work-life balance (27%), discouraging collaborative teamwork (26%), and stopping or slowing the next promotion (25%).
All is not lost, as slightly more than half of workers in the survey (52%) feel that their bosses are having a positive impact on their careers. The survey found that more men than women have that belief (58% compared to 47%), and it is suggested that top management in the US tends to be male-dominated, with the tradition of an “old boys club”.
The survey polled 2,054 workers.
